Lake Mburo National Park

Empathy Tour organizes Lake Mburo safaris to enjoy a variety of wildlife in Lake Mburo National Park. This is done through game drives, boat cruises on the lake as well as walking safaris.

Don’t let its size fool you—Lake Mburo National Park may be the smallest of Uganda’s national parks, but it’s brimming with surprises. Located in the heart of Uganda, this 260-square-kilometer (100-square-mile) park is a patchwork of rolling hills, acacia woodlands, grassy plains, and serene wetlands. Lake Mburo’s diverse ecosystem and abundant wildlife make it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike.

A Water Wonderland

Lake Mburo National Park is named after Lake Mburo, the largest of the five lakes within its borders. These shimmering bodies of water are a rare feature in Uganda’s national parks and offer unique opportunities for boating safaris. Whether you’re gliding across the calm waters or spotting wildlife along the shores, the park’s aquatic landscape adds an element of tranquility to your adventure.

Our Lake Mburo Safaris combines several experiences that will see you enjoy game drives to view wild animals such as giraffes, zebras, impalas, hippos and so much more. This may be done in the car or on foot. For those who would love to mix wildlife and culture, our Lake Mburo safaris are a perfect choice. Some of our packages to Lake Mburo National Park visit the Rwenjeru community campsite where clients are taken through the life of a cattle keeper in Mbarara. You will be taken for cattle feeding, watering, and milking. From the Rwenjeru community campsite, you may choose to visit the Igongo Cultural Center for a cultural tour in the Museum as well as enjoy local food prepared at the Igongo Cultural Center.
