Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Begin your journey with an early morning departure from Kampala or Entebbe Airport, heading southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes you through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, dotted with tea and banana plantations, rolling hills, and rural villages. You’ll stop at the Equator for photos and an opportunity to shop for souvenirs.

Enjoy lunch en route in the town of Mbarara, often referred to as the “Land of Milk and Honey,” due to its vibrant cattle farming community. As you approach Bwindi, the scenery becomes even more spectacular, with terraced hills, misty valleys, and lush forests.

Check in at your lodge upon arrival and enjoy the evening at leisure. Rest up for the exciting adventure ahead!

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a pre-trek briefing at 7:30 AM. The rangers will guide you on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking and assign you to a gorilla family based on your fitness level and preferences.

At 8:00 AM, embark on your gorilla trekking adventure! The trek can take between 2 to 8 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family you are tracking. As you navigate through the dense forest, you’ll encounter unique plant species, birdlife, and possibly other primates like black-and-white colobus monkeys and red-tailed monkeys.

When you finally meet the gorillas, you’ll have a magical one hour to observe and photograph them as they feed, groom, and interact with each other. This intimate encounter is a humbling and unforgettable experience.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and a well-deserved rest. In the late afternoon, you can opt for a community visit to learn about the local Batwa people, their forest traditions, and their unique culture.

Day 3: Return to Kampala or Entebbe

Arrive in the evening at your hotel in Kampala or proceed to Entebbe Airport for your departure flight.
